Product is rated as #1 in category TP-Link Router Review

TP-Link Archer BE400 is a mid-range Wi-Fi 7 router. TP-Link has officially said this product offers speed, latency, and network efficiency superior to its previous Wi-Fi 6 models. It plays up tri-band functionality as well as a 6GHz frequency band and aims at gamers, streaming media users and more home-based people. The Archer BE400 router is reasonably priced, at least for now, though its only trade-off is its relatively low multi-gigabit ports — which the product makes up for with good performance and ease-of-use.

TP-Link Archer BE400 Performance

Real-world speed and signal testing

Based on real-world testing of the TP-Link Archer BE400, its performance is incredibly powerful and with a lot of its benefits with roots in 5GHz band. I tested my laptop with a Dell XPS 15 for tests and Intel AX200 network card. At 5 feet proximity, the speed test was 1500 Mbps, and at 30 feet apart with no more than one wall, the speed test was 529 Mbps. Based on the requirements of high-load operation and multi-stream high-definition transmission, these performance levels can suit.

This real-world measurement of the Archer BE400 gives 764 Mbps of output for the 2.4 GHz band at close range, which meets the requirements of daily internet access and Internet of Things (IoT) networking. Its performance drops off drastically after the 6 GHz band hits this distance, only to be reduced to around 50 feet, which is a consequence of its natural short transmission range.

TP-Link Archer BE400 USB / Storage

File transfer speeds via USB

The USB 3.0 port on the TP-Link Archer BE400 provides fairly decent data storage performance, with transfer speeds of 30 MB/s achieved during my tests. Not groundbreaking, though it is enough for casual file sharing and accessing media files stored on an external drive. However, users looking for NAS-level speeds may find this lacking.
