TP-Link Deco X80, a Wi-Fi 6 AX6000 Mesh System. Thanks to its AX6000 configuration, it can provide up to 6000 Mbps bandwidth, delivering an ultra-fast experience. However, unlike the more expensive Deco X95, the Deco X80 uses a dual-band configuration.
TP-Link Deco X80 Pros and Cons
TP-Link Deco X80 Design
Like the TP-Link Deco X68, the Deco X80 is one of TP-Link’s latest Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Systems to hit the market with an impressive performance. It has a sleek cylindrical minimalist design which makes it an elegant modern looking product. A white matte finish and smooth lines fit the modern home, blending to match different interior spaces. There are hidden status lights and cooling holes on the top of the device to operate for a long time without being worried about interference from light. The Deco X80 is an AX6000 dual-band Wi-Fi mesh router, which implies that in addition to top-tier design, it can also provide wireless transmission speeds of up to 4804Mbps (5GHz) and 1148 Mbps (2.4GHz).
Deco X80 size is 105 × 105 × 169 mm and the flexible position ensure it fits to hug on any space as well. Deco X80 has a 2.5G Ethernet WAN port with the ability to connect to a maximum of a 2Gbps internet line. TP-Link Deco X80 Performance
That TP-Link Deco X80 delivers superlative performance, Making fast internet flow over every inch of a 2,800-square-foot two-storey townhouse as it should is one thing eero does without any effort needed; this includes giving enough speed to smoothly stream 4K everywhere in the abode. For my iPhone, the Deco X80 can easily get over 800Mbps speeds at closer ranges. The mesh nodes experience very low load latency, making the system perfect for games. The good news is that TP-Link has indeed worked on its congestion management, which should be useful for gaming, video calls and live streaming.
Then I did a Mesh performance test. While testing the speed of my Wi-Fi 6-capable devices, the Mesh nodes could deliver Wi-Fi speeds over 500Mbps at two barriers. Already faster than the previous flagship model, the Deco X90, despite being dual-band. The system is super robust and worked perfectly during my tests. As for reliability, the Deco X80 did not crash with me or disconnect unexpectedly at all. All of my devices connected and stayed fast thanks to the excellent job the AI-driven self-learning mesh system did an optimizing connections. And the result was one of the best Mesh experiences when it comes to roaming and handover/band switch between nodes. One of the reasons for this is Deco supporting certain 802.11k/v wireless standards to improve roaming experience. It also features 802.11r fast roaming, which means your devices can roam faster too.
TP-Link Deco X80 Hardware
The Mesh Wi-Fi System settings in Deco app have simple menu style as well as straightforward operation, provide more convenience to users. The List of connected devices and connection speeds shown in this image. It also brings other handy features within your reach like guest Wi-Fi, QoS, and device limits.
With this model comes the TP-Link HomeShield Pro parental control feature. If you have kids at home, the device category-based content restriction is also a great feature. It also offers restricted use time, and Internet access scheduling.
Another option to keep an eye on what your kids are doing online is the reporting with HomeShield Pro. It shows the trends of internet consumption, and the most popular weblinks. But those bonus capabilities come at a price, in the form of the HomeShield Pro service that requires a monthly fee. For TM Unifi, Maxis Fibre & CelcomDigi Fibre Users (If you connect the Mesh Wi-Fi system to a modem), you will need to setup IPTV/VLAN settings. You can then go into the Deco app and use PPPoE username and password corresponding to your network.
