TP-Link Deco X5700 is one of the strongest mesh Wi-Fi 6 system you can get for its performance, including its 160MHz channel bandwidth and a 2.5Gbps multi-gigabit port, two of the fastest in its class.
TP-Link Deco X5700 Pros and Cons
TP-Link Deco X5700 Design
The TP-Link Deco X5700 looks almost exactly like the Deco X90; I even had a hard time telling the two apart when I unboxed it. Aesthetically, the Deco X5700 router is pleasing to the eye, although from some angles it could look like a roll of fancy toilet paper. It comprises a two-packs, with both hardware units identical – each functioning as a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 broadcasting device. One may serve as the router, connecting to the internet source, while the other operates as a satellite, automatically extending the Wi-Fi network.
The Deco X5700 has two adaptive network ports; one is a Gigabit port, the other is a 2.5Gbps multi-gigabit port. It is possible to specify it between one of the primary router, and satellite router. Satellite Plus now features LAN outports on itself. Both systems support wired backhaul. It has no USB, so it can’t be set up with mini NAS server.

TP-Link Deco X5700 Performance
In my tests, the TP-Link Deco X5700 was among the fastest Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Systems, thanks to its support for 160MHz channel bandwidth and its 2.5Gbps LAN port, which I used to hook it up to my testing server. At close range—under 10 feet (3 metres)—my 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 client connected at 2.4Gbps, delivering sustained rates exceeding 1400Mbps. Below the 40ft mark and the client still maintained the same 2.4Gbps, although its throughput was toned down to a little over 1100Mbps. These results are better than a lot of dedicated routers. The Deco X5700 also impresses with Wi-Fi 5 clients. Up close, my 4×4 test machine delivered over 800Mbps on average, and further away, my 3×3 client came in at around 630Mbps. The Deco X5700 also has a range you’d expect from high-end standalone routers. The range it can cover is 2,000 square feet to 2,500 square feet, depending on your home and how many obstacles is present. Buy two and the coverage is effectively doubled, to over 50sqft!
The Deco X5700’s satellite unit fared well in wireless network performance tests, too. In my testing, my Wi-Fi 6 client delivered consistent speeds of 600Mbps to 760Mbps at 40 feet away from the mesh point. With Wi-Fi 5, my 3×3 client still maintained a sustained speed of around 500Mbps in this range; that’s quite amazing.
TP-Link Deco X5700 Setup
The setup process for the TP-Link Deco X5700 is identical to that of the Deco X60. Download the Deco app on your mobile device, log in to your TP-Link account, and follow the app instructions. There is one subtle difference. Unlike the Deco X60, the Deco X5700 is not a plug-and-play hardware. Hence, you will need to connect them manually through an app in order for them to become a mesh system. However, I had both installed and running in about 10 minutes. Once set up, you can manage your home network from anywhere using your mobile.
Please note that the Deco X5700 is unable to work with HomeCare, from protection, QoS control to Parental Controls. Instead, it has HomeShield (what is probably the next iteration of HomeCare), which comes in free and subscription models. With the free edition, you are restricted to basic QoS and a ‘daily online time’ internet access restriction. If you want the better control and protection, you’ll have to pick HomeShield Pro at $6 a month.
