TP-Link Deco S7 Performance
The TP-Link Deco S7 was one of the best sets we tested in our close-range and mid-range environment performance tests. Tested in the living room about 3 metres away from the main node, I got to enjoy download speeds of up to 470 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 480 Mbps and ping latency as low as 8 ms., perfect for streaming HD videos or playing online games with consistent and reliable network performance.

Download speed was 360 Mbps, Deco S7 upload speed 370 Mbps and Ping latency 12 ms in the bedroom approximately 10 metres away from the secondary node (one wall in between). The network performance is slightly degraded but passable that could still play video fine at 1080p and online games smooth with good user experience. In the kitchen, 15 metres from the main node and separated by two walls, download went to 150 Mbps or of upload dropped to 160 mbps, ping was around 25ms — not terrible but noticeable. Basic video playback up to 720p remains passable, but online gaming is spoiled.
The Deco S7 system excels at expanding Wi-Fi coverage, providing stable performance throughout all areas of my home. The coverage is impressive and even spreads to my garden / shed area. One of the best features for me is the ability to directly uplink a PoE switch to the Deco device in the shed, effectively turning the Deco into an Ethernet cable alternative.This saves me the hassle of running long Ethernet cables through walls or drilling holes, which is very convenient.
