The TP-Link Archer GE650 is a smaller version of the Archer GE800, but it outperforms it in many ways. It is the second pure gaming router from TP-Link. The Archer GE650 includes tri-band Wi-Fi 7, along with two 5 Gbps ports, and three 2.5 Gbps multi-gig ports. TP-Link Archer GE650 Performance Test
While the TP-Link Archer GE650 lacks a 10 Gbps port, I wasnโt hoping for its performance to exceed its earlier cousin, either. But this router fared surprisingly well in my testing. In fact, In fact, its NAS performance when hosting a portable SSD even outperformed the more feature-rich Archer GE800.
For a 5 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps multi-gigabit-speed router, Archer GE650’s wired transfer rates are also solid. Using Cat6A Ethernet cables (supporting 10GBASE-T), the Archer GE650 achieved a score of 4730 Mbps (5 Gbps), which is lower than the Archer GE800’s 8800 Mbps (10 Gbps). In 2.5Gbps performance test, the Archer GE650 got 2268Mbps while Archer GE800’s score was 2242 Mbps, I was quite surprised.
As for Wi-Fi speeds, the TP-Link Archer GE650 won’t match those of other 4×4 routers or routers that have 10Gbps ports. In tests conducted at a distance of 10 feet, the Archer GE650 lagged significantly behind the Archer GE800. However, in tests conducted at a distance of 40 feet, the Archer GE650 outperformed the Archer GE800 in some categories.
The Archer GE650 router even met this target in read and write speed tests, with read speeds up to 300 MB/s and write speeds of almost 250 MB/s, which is more than enough for a small householdโs network storage, including data sharing, media streaming and Time Machine back up support.
