With features such as speed, quality of service, and 8-antenna streams from the AX6000 wireless rated series, TP-Link’s top-of-the-line Archer AX80 brings specialization for gamers, multi-wireless device users, and high speed internet users.
TP-Link Archer AX80 Router Pros and Cons
TP-Link Archer AX80 Router Design
The TP-Link Archer AX80 router has a distinctive fighter jet-like arial footprint, on the back of its 2.0GHz quad-core processor and 512MB of RAM muscle, making it ideal for lag-free gigabit internet and 4K streaming. And with 8 antennas the performance is stunning, offering AX6000 wireless speeds of 1148 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 4804 Mbps on the 5GHz band. Alongside this, the Archer AX80 features 1GbE WAN/LAN, 2.5GbE WAN/LAN, and 3 1GbE LAN, so users can match the WAN end based on their environment situation or use it with a 2.5GbE switch to set up a high-speed local networking environment for your gaming PC and NAS where you need fast internal network transfers.
The TP-Link Archer AX80 showcases a radial-body of its own with eight triangular antennas that are also aesthetically pleasing. On the device’s front, in addition to the TP-Link logo, are the hidden Wi-Fi switch, the LED indicator switch, and WPS buttons are located just under it. The independent external high gain antennas with high power FEM front end modules optimize network coverage compellingly. With beamforming, it could detect the direction of users devices and focus wireless signal towards them. Ultimately it is easier and more convenient for everyone to connect at the same time.
The TP-Link Archer AX80’s back has a DC In port, power button, a concealed Reset button; and network ports, including 1GbE WAN/LAN, 2.5GbE WAN/LAN, and three 1GbE LAN ports. During the setup process, you can choose to assign WAN as either the 1GbE WAN/LAN or 2.5GbE WAN/LAN. It mostly accommodates for a single WAN configuration, so you still have four LAN ports open for use.
TP-Link Archer AX80 Router Feature
- Go Faster and Further: The latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard featuring OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology brings faster and more efficient Wi-Fi, 4804 Mbps (5 GHz) and 1148 Mbps (2.4 GHz). Go further with eight high-gain antennas with Beamforming for maximum coverage.
- 2.5G Multi Gigabit Port: Breakthrough the limitation of Gigabit network and jump to the multi Gigabit network which offers speed up to 2.5G. Don’t let your router slow you or your internet service provider down.
- More Devices, Less Congestion: 4 in 1 OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology means everyone connects faster, plus intelligent WiFi avoids congestion. MU MIMO works with your router to serve multiple devices at once, reducing wait time and increasing network efficiency; OFDMA increases the amount of data to transmit at one time, enabling it to handle the demands of many devices more efficiently.
- VPN Client Supported: Enable devices in your local network to access remote VPN client server while H2N is a VPN server, no need to install a VPN client on each device.
- TP-Link HomeShield – TP-Link’s premium security service keeps your home network safe with cutting-edge network and IoT protection. Free features: 1. Basic Network Security including Security Scan and IoT Device Identification 2. Basic Parental Controls 3. Quality of Service 4. Basic Weekly/Monthly Reports. Visit TP-Link website for more information.
- Works with Alexa: Control your router with voice commands, ideal for all Alexa and Echo products, supports guest wifi and parental control. Enjoy smart and easy with Amazon Alexa compatibility.

TP-Link Archer AX80 Router Performance
Today I used the MSI Prestige 14 802.11ax laptop for testing. The office totalling 70 square are metre. The fastest speed is one meter away from the TP-Link Archer AX80 router, 5GHz is 600 M, and 2.4 GHz is 169M; the corner point A is diagonally across the room, but there are columns and shelves, but there is no wall in the middle is also a very good transmission performance. Points B and C also have good signal, with about 150Mpbs for 2.4GHz and about 600mbps for 5GHz.

In the storage room and living room which are further from the source, 2. 4GHz, 5GHz signal strength is moderate. The speed on 2.4GHz is slightly lower but still with near 100Mbps transmission rate, and 5GHz on 200Mbps rate, then maintain near 200Mbps highest performance.
